Master Robert L.F. Denault is a fifth degree black belt in
Kenpo Karate and Jiu-Jitsu. He has served in local, state and federal
law enforcement for more than 20 years.Master Denault began his career in law enforcement in 1985 as a Maine Reserve Officer and later that year became a full-time officer in Lebanon, Maine. He graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia, in 1990. He now supervises one of the largest police departments in the area for the Department of Defense. His background includes training in gangs, terrorism, anti-terrorism, bombs, hostage negotiation and psychology. Master Denaults interest in martial arts developed out of a love for open-hand combat. He began his journey nearly 20 years ago, studying Shaolin Kenpo in the Fred Vallarie system. He has studied the art of Kenpo Karate and Jiu-Jitsu under Bob Meserve of Bob Meserves Health and Self Defense (which derived from Master Chow and his student Master Nick Serio), and Master Anderson of The Portsmouth Dojo. Prior to founding Defense Tactics Systems, Master Denault served as an instructor for Bob Meserve's Health and Self Defense in Salisbury, Mass. He now trains with Master Higgins of White Dragon Martial Arts in Rowley, Mass. Master Denault has dedicated
his life to teaching, and is involved with D.A.R.E. and local afterschool
programs, striving to keep kids off the streets and drug-free.

He continued his study of Kenpo and Kung Fu at Bob Meserve's Health and Self Defense under Sensei Mark Casey and Master Frank Anderson, where he earned the rank of Sandan. Master Orr learned the Chinese and Japanese styles of Red Dragon kenpo-shotokan-aikijitsu-do under Shihan Ed Lester, where he earned his third degree black belt. He has also studied laido under Shihan Brent Crisci.
Master James Jean began his martial arts training in 1985 studying Kenpo, Kung Fu and Jiu-Jitsu in Exeter, N.H., and received his first belt in July of that year. More than twenty years and a fifth degree black belt later, he is still working on improving the material. Master Jean holds a masters degree in education. His experience in the classroom translates into excellent teaching techniques in the dojo. He is one of the founding instructors of Defense Tactics Systems.
Master Higgins' leadership guides the instruction offered at Defense Tactics Systems. Over the years he has led Master Denault, Master Orr and Master Jean through the black belt ranks.
